Aaron's Blog is Moving to MySpace!
Topic: What Aaron's Up To

Greetings!

Well, folks, I guess we're nearing the end of Aaron's Tripod Blog.  ;)  I have long-since moved all my political stuff to kheph777.stumbleupon.com.  Now, I'll be moving everything else-"What Aaron's Up To", "Aaron's Books Updates", etc- to my brand new MySpace Blog:

http://www.myspace.com/aaronleitch

Head over there, make me your MySpace "friend", and subscribe to my Blog.  MySpace will let you know whenever I update it with new posts.  Plus, I'll send out bulletins about upcoming events or new books, etc, which will appear on your MySpace homepage.  :)

If you're NOT a member of MySpace - you can still bookmark me and keep checking the Blog for new stuff.  :)

Tripod's blog service has some severe limitations, and is fairly difficult to work with.  However, this blog will stay here as long as I own my Tripod account - and I don't have any current plans to move my homepage any time soon.

Pic of Aaron In Texas
Topic: What Aaron's Up To

Greetings, folks!

My trip to Texas was *wonderful*!

Not only was it a lot of fun in its own right - but I feel it was also an historic event as well.  This Golden Dawn conference included members of several different Orders, and was hosted at an OTO camp!

Just think of all of these occultists gathered together with their vastly different systems, viewpoints and beliefs.  If we believe what we see on the internet, we'd have to expect this to be a recipe for disaster!

However, the real world is quite different. Far from conflicting with one another, the attendees and speakers at this conference spent the weekend having fun, discussing, debating and sharing ideas.

It has been a LONG time since I've enjoyed such feelings of fraternal harmony in such a disparate group!  It was the kind of environment where (for example) my wife regularly left her purse unattended in the conference room- with money and cell-phone clearly visible inside.  It was truly like being at a family reunion - with some really odd extended relatives!  :):):)    It was a wonderful experience, across the board.

Here is a pic of (right to left)- myself (of the Hermetic Order of the Stella Matutina), Sam Webster (Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn), Chic Cicero (Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn) and Tommy Westlund (Sodalitas Rosae Crucis et Solis Alati).

This photo was taken just after members of these Orders came together to consecrate a Temple in the Austin, TX area.  What an experience to have the Chiefs of  these four Golden Dawn Orders all sitting on the same Dais.

For more pics of the conference taken by the Ciceros, just go to this link:

http://www.hermeticgoldendawn.org/TX.htm

Hope to see you all at the next conference!

Aaron in Texas - Update!
Topic: What Aaron's Up To

The Austin Western Mystery Conference is fast approaching!

www.gdtemple.org

There has been a change of venue, so please read the following:

-----------------

Greetings ALL...

I hope that this does not cause any major inconveniences, but the Austin Western Mystery Conference has had to change is venue due to two variables out of our control...

* Casa de Luz double booked their conference room on Sunday leaving us a much smaller option than planned.
* One of Austin largest concerts is happening that same weekend on the very road that Casa de Luz is on and therefore parking and or getting to that venue could take the better part of a day to accomplish.

So is the Spirit of Brotherly Love the Scarlet Woman Lodge stepped in and has agreed to host the Conference. Directions and hotel info can be found at the website....

www.gdtemple.org

One thing to note the Scarlet Woman Lodge is not as large as the main room at the old venue, but it is larger than the one the tried to out us in... so that being said... we just lost about 35-40% of our seating...

We will be accepting pre-registration until September 10th...

Please contact me if you have any questions...

Peace be with you ALL...

Aaron in Austin, TX this September
Topic: What Aaron's Up To

Greetings, Folks!

Everything is confirmed for my appearance in Austin Texas this September!  :)  Things are still in the formation stage - but I may be giving a lecture based upon my "Modern Grimoire Magick" essay.  It explores the historical and some practical relationships between American folk magick (like Pow-wow and Hoodoo) and Solomonic magick.

I will be signing copies of "Secrets of the Magickal Grimoires" - so bring your copy!  :):):)

Appearing with me will be my wife Carrie Mikell-Leitch, who will follow my lecture with one of her own on Santeria.  Carrie has spoken on this subject at law-enforcement conventions, educating officers so they wouldn't react from fear/ignorance when encountering Santeria and Voodoo in the field.

I'll update this as more information becomes available.  For now, here is the announcement that has been made so far:

---------------------

Jeff Contreras <CinTex@gdtemple.org>

Greetings ALL...

The Golden Dawn Trust and the SEA of Knowledge will be hosting a

Scheduled to appear are:

Chic & Tabitha Cicero
Tommy Westlund
Darcy Kuntz
Aaron Lietich
Omega Bodhi
Sallie Ingle

and we are still working to confirm more speakers.

I will release more details as they become available. If anyone has
any questions they can contact me at the above email address.

peace be with you ALL...

New Grimoire Essay this Equinox (JWMT)
Topic: What Aaron's Up To

Hey folks!

I'm VERY excited to announce a new essay on the grimoires coming your way this equinox from the Journal of the Western Mystery Tradition (www.jwmt.org). It is called:

Modern Grimoire Magick: Folk-Magick and the Solomonic Path

I loved researching the material for this essay! In a sense, you could say that it picks up where "Secrets..." left off. It follows the German immigrants who came to the New World and brought their grimoires and folklore with them. The result was the "Hexcraft" or "Pow-wow" tradition of American folk-magick- which then migrated south and influenced the southern Hoodoo traditions. (Both of these are what we would call "witchcraft" today.) These traditions kept the grimoires alive, even if they did slightly re-frame the material into a less ritualistic mold.

Keep an eye on my homepage, as well as on the JWMT! (The Journal will also include a new review of "Secrets...")

Aaron at StumbleUpon
Topic: What Aaron's Up To
Greetings, folks!

Have you yet discovered StumbleUpon.com? If not, I think you might find it worth checking out! It is a social bookmarking service, and it is *loads* of fun. (It has returned good old-fashioned web-surfing to my life!)

I have set up my own StumbleUpon page, which
I'd like you all to go take a look at. I've already integrated the page with my "grimoiric" web-presence- to help introduce my work to new people and further market "Secrets..."

You will be able to see all the cool and weird things I'm into besides magick. :) If you have (or sign up for) a StumbleUpon account, feel free to give my site a "Thumbs Up" and to mark me as a
"Friend." :) (Then I can come around and see all the stuff you're into!)

Check me out at:

Aaron appearing in New Port Richey and St. Pete, Florida.
Topic: What Aaron's Up To
Aaron appearing in New Port Richey and St. Pete, Florida.

Greetings!

I have just accepted two invitations for appearances in New Port
Richey and St. Petersburg, Florida.

-September 25, 2005: Pagan Pride Day
Pagan Pride Day will be at The Sims Park in New Port Richey from 10 am
until 8 pm and a rain date of October 8.
This one is short notice. However, I think I will give a lecture on
one of the main themes of my book- the connection between Shamanism
and the Medieval Grimoiric Tradition. ("Magick and Shamanism") I
will gather the lecture from part one of "Secrets..." - so you will
get something of a sneak-preview before the book hits the stores. :)

-October 21-23, 2005
GreenSong Grove Samhain Grand Sabbat and Witches Ball. St.Petersburg,
Florida. Grand Sabbat, Witches Ball and Katrina Relief Aid. Gates
open at 2 PM on Friday. http://greensonggrove.org/
I plan to attend on Saturday, October 22nd. If all goes well, it will
be another book signing. ;)

In fact, the GSG book signing will happen the day *before* the big
book signing planned with Chic and Tabatha Cicero at the Green Dragon
in Ybor City, Florida. So that will be a busy weekend!

Hope to see some of you there!
